City of Crossville approves funding for biodiesel project

The City of Crossville has taken another energy-efficient step, approving funding for a bio-diesel project that will have multiple benefits, city officials say. The project will involve turning used cooking oil from local restaurants and individuals into bio-diesel to be used in city vehicles and equipment that run on diesel.

Roane State student’s inventions help people with disabilities

When Corey Heck looks at everyday objects, he imagines how they could help people. Heck is majoring in occupational therapy assistant at Roane State Community College and will graduate in May. For a fieldwork class at East Tennessee Technology Access Center (ETTAC) in Knoxville, he invented a variety of items to help people with disabilities.

A hike close to home for Fairfield Glade Hiking Group April 30

On Friday, April 30, the Fairfield Glade Hiking Group will hike the Turkey Creek Loop in Catoosa.  This is a somewhat unknown trail very close to The Glade in the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area near Devil’s Breakfast Table.  It is only about 10 miles away.

Fairfield Glade Hiking Group looking for wildflowers on next hike April 23

On Friday, April 23 the Fairfield Glade Hikers will travel to Frozen Head State Park which is near Wartburg to hike Panther Branch.  This is a great spring wildflower destination and this time in April should be prime wildflower season.

On Friday, April 16 the Fairfield Glade Hikers will hike Collins West at Savage Gulf which is a new hike for us.  It has rugged terrain with high bluffs and a couple of stream crossings.

CMC to open clinic in Monterey

Cumberland Medical Center is excited to announce plans to open a clinic in Monterey, TN.  Last week officials met and signed documents which officially call for the Monterey Health Clinic operated by Cumberland Medical Center, located on 305 South Holly Street, Suite A, to begin plans for opening hopefully in the next 4-6 weeks.
