Renowned pianist, Marilynn Ham, will give a free concert of sacred music at Fairfield Glade Community Church on January 30, 2010 at 7 P.M.   The concert is sponsored by the church, the Music Academy, Wal-Mart, and Mitchell Drug Co. Inc.

Marilynn Ham has captivated audiences with her solo performances around the country.  Marilynn is recognized nationally as a published arranger, sacred concert pianist, recording artist and workshop leader.  She is a best-selling arranger of advanced piano solo collections, published by three companies.

Influenced by church music as a child, Marilynn, the oldest of fifteen, accompanied her family on the piano and began playing her arrangements by ear when she was in high school.  She holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in piano performance from Northern Michigan University and the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  While at NMU, Marilynn was honored as “Most Outstanding Music Student.” Currently she is Artist-in-Residence and Professor of Music at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Marilynn Ham’s entire collection consists of more than twenty piano books including arrangements for Christmas and a book o piano duets.  Her first book, Ivory Exaltation, was published by Ly Lillenas in 1985 and has become their best-selling keyboard book ever.  She has also produced professional recordings of her music.

Ms. Ham will present a Piano Keyboard Workshop on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Fairfield Glade Community Church.  The fee is $50 payable to Fairfield glade Community Church.  The morning workshop will include step-by-step instruction about how to play the piano by ear.  You will learn how to develop a melody, add rhythm and harmony to enrich your song.   Lunch will be provided for Workshop Participants. During the afternoon session, Bringing Printed Music to Listeners’ Hearts, participants will learn how expression, phrasing, visual considerations, touch memorization and controlling performance anxiety can help a pianist win and move a listener’s heart.
