The CCC Band is beginning it’s tenth year of performing and entertaining in the community since being founded by Murray Kidwell in 2000. Returning as conductor for 2010 is Lance Kennedy, former band director at Stone Memorial High School (SMHS). The band has scheduled a full year of events for your enjoyment starting with the traditional Spring Concert at SMHS on March 23rd beginning at 7:00 pm. The concert series of four performances also includes our Summer, Autumn and Christmas Concerts. Dates for these events will be published shortly and more detail on the Spring Concert will be up coming in several weeks. This year, concerts will begin at 7:00 pm and as always, there is no admission charged.
The band will also be a part of the community events marking Memorial Day (May 31st), Veterans Day (November 11th) and the expanding Welcome Home Vets Celebration (June 5th).
In addition, the band has again been invited to perform at the Tennessee Community Band Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. This year, ten groups from across the state will be participating in this all day event. The festival will be held on March 27th at Hillwood High School in Nashville and is open to the public.
The tradition of community bands in small towns across the country is a piece of our American history that continues today. The CCC Band is very happy to be a part of this heritage and thanks all of our loyal supporters. The reason we play is our love of music and you, our audience!
