2009 Elks County ‘Hoop Shoot’ a big success

Saturday, December 12 at Cumberland County High School, winners from Brown, Crab Orchard, Glenn Martin, Homestead, North, Pine View, Pleasant Hill, and South Elementary Schools brought their 8 through 13-year-old girls and boys to compete for the top free throw shooter in their age group in Cumberland County. There were a total of 2376 shooters from these 8 schools who took part in this years contest.
Each contestant shot 25 free throws with the other contestants in their age group with the winner being the most made shots out of 25. Finishing 1st in the 8 – 9 year old age group was Gracee Dishman (South) with 24 out of 25 shots for the girls and Brett Newcome (Homestead) 13 out of 25 for the boys. Finishing 1 in the 10 – 1 1 year old age group was Ashton (Blake) Keyes (Glenn Martin) with 16 out of 25 for the girls and Nathaniel Sexton (Homestead) with 19 out of the 25 for the boys. Finishing 1 in the 12 – 13 year old age group was Jackolyn Livesay (Homestead) with 21 out of 25 for the girls and Alex Dixon (Glenn Martin) with 17 out of the 25 for the boys.
These six girls and boys will advance to the Elks District “Hoop Shoot” contest on January 9,2010 at Lawrenceburg, TN, starting at 1:00 p.m. Competition for the District will gather from 8 Elks Lodges located in the Middle Tennessee District.
The Cumberland County Elks Lodge and LeRoy Hammond, the Lodge ‘Hoop Shoot” Director, invites everyone who can come and help support these young girls and boys, to show up at Lawrenceburg on January ’9′.
